Pregnancy Testing / Confirmation of Pregnancy for Medicaid

We offer women pregnancy testing that will provide accurate results before they leave the center.

Also, if a client will be applying for Medicaid, we will provide the verification of her pregnancy, which is needed for the application process. Pregnancy symptoms, such as a missed period or tender breasts, differ from woman to woman and pregnancy to pregnancy. However one of the most significant pregnancy symptoms is a delayed or missed period. If you think you may be pregnant, please contact us for a free, confidential pregnancy test.

During your consultation you will be meeting with our trained staff who will educate you on your self-administered pregnancy test, and answer your questions and concerns.

If you’ve already taken a home pregnancy test and it came out positive, it is important to verify it with a clinical pregnancy test such as used in our free no cost pregnancy testing. If you live in or around Lafayette, we are here to serve you.

What’s being tested?

When the sperm penetrates an egg during conception, your body produces a hormone called human chorionic gonadotrophin (hCG). Urine-based pregnancy tests detect the presence of hCG in your body. You can come in for pregnancy testing as early as a week after conception.

Do I need a blood test?

The difference between a blood test and a urine test is that urine pregnancy testing detects hCG in the urine, while the blood test detects hCG in the bloodstream. However in most cases, urine-based pregnancy testing is preferred. At the Women’s Center of Lafayette, we perform free urine pregnancy testing. Our pregnancy testing results are 97-99% accurate 7 to 10 days after you last had sex or as early as one day after your first missed period.
